Job Summary:
The Service Department at Swan Bay Resort & Marina is seeking a Marine Mechanic with at least 5 years of experience working on marine engines. Ideally, this individual would already have the knowledge to assist with all boat & trailer repairs. This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment, marine vessels of all sizes, personal watercrafts and a variety of other machinery. The maintenance of equipment may also include mechanical diagnostics, routine maintenance of inboard and outboard engines and maintenance work on trailers. The Marine Mechanic must be able to work under warm conditions and in tight, hard to get to spaces. Additionally, this individual must be dedicated with an excellent work ethic, good communication skills and a positive attitude in order to thrive within a challenging environment. This position is Year-Round, Full-Time with Benefits. Pay is based upon experience and ranges from $17-30/hr to start. Service Department hours range from 7am-8pm, 7 days a week during the Summer and strict Mon-Fri hours during the Winter, so flexibility in your schedule is a must.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Communicating with managers and customers to observe, test, and evaluate the operation of equipment to diagnose possible causes of the malfunction
  • Disassembling equipment to remove parts and make repairs
  • Examining parts for defects, such as: breakage, excessive wear
  • Assessing, diagnosing and repairing outboard & inboard/outboard engines
  • Continuously cleaning and lubricating parts and equipment
  • Completing test runs of repaired equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs
  • Fabricating replacement parts and communicating with the Parts Office/requesting orders
  • Welding to repair broken metal parts, fabricating new parts and assembling new equipment
  • Repairing and replacing electrical wiring and components of equipment
  • Being comfortable with 12 volt/DC systems, as well as fuel systems
  • Maintaining awareness of safety or maintenance issues and immediately reporting them to your manager
  • Completing any additional tasks asked for by management

  • A manufacturer certification is preferred, but not required.
  • Marine/Boating experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience is required.
  • MUST have own tools. Valid Driver License required.

  • A drive to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to quickly switch between tasks is required.

Education: High School, GED or equivalent is preferred.

Position:

  • Year Round /Full-Time / Pay based upon experience $18-$22/hr to start
